About Laszlo Moholy Nagy

Few figures pushed harder against the boundary between art and machine than this Hungarian polymath, who treated light itself as a sculptural medium. Arriving at the Bauhaus in 1923, he ran the foundation course alongside Josef Albers and helped redirect the school toward industrial design, photography, and what he called the New Vision - a way of seeing shaped by the camera, the X-ray, and the aerial view. His photograms, made without a lens by exposing objects directly onto photosensitive paper, still feel startlingly contemporary. For anyone drawn to constructivist geometry, early modernist typography, or the clean optimism of interwar design, his graphic work remains essential.
