His later years on the Maine coast at Prouts Neck produced the stark marine paintings that cemented his reputation: rocks, fishermen, weather, the Atlantic doing what the Atlantic does. What keeps him relevant is the directness. No sentiment, no varnish, just light and salt and the honest weight of American outdoor life.
