About Eugen Batz

A Bauhaus student whose name is now bound up with Kandinsky's color theory exercises, this German artist (1905-1986) produced some of the clearest visual demonstrations of the school's analytical approach to color. His six-part color circle, executed during Kandinsky's wall-painting class in the late 1920s, remains one of the most reproduced teaching documents from the Dessau period - a precise wedge diagram that turns abstract theory into something you can actually see.
